#3 Vet in Luton, Bedfordshire
Icknield Vet Group, located in Luton, has a mixed reception from its clientele, as reflected in its 4.4-star rating from 312 reviews on Google Maps. This rating suggests a generally positive experience for many pet owners, though the written reviews reveal a more nuanced picture.
Positive experiences are highlighted by long-term clients like Jessica Fox, who praises the clinic for its supportive and friendly staff, indicating a level of trust and satisfaction among some customers. Her loyalty over four years suggests a consistent quality of care for her dog, contrasting with her negative experience at a previous veterinary service.
However, the clinic also faces significant criticism, particularly concerning the quality of care and financial transparency. Reviewers such as Nikola Jaroszynska and Reah express dissatisfaction with the diagnostic capabilities and perceived prioritization of profit over animal welfare. Jaroszynska recounts a tragic incident involving her puppy, which she attributes to inadequate veterinary care. Similarly, Reah criticizes the clinic for delayed diagnosis and high treatment costs, raising concerns about the clinic's communication and pricing policies.
Others, like Tracey Whitmore and Young G, echo these sentiments, describing experiences of misdiagnosis and unexpected expenses. Whitmore questions the necessity of costly procedures for her elderly dog, while Young G alleges emotional manipulation and financial exploitation.
In summary, while Icknield Vet Group is appreciated by some for its compassionate staff, several reviews point to issues with diagnosis, cost transparency, and customer service that potential clients may want to consider.

Just arrived to the place 7 minutes late because spent time looking around for the place due to the navigation sending us behind the building as we were unaware of the area, and got told that our appointments cancelled because the “Vet” had said that they had a look at our profile and cannot do it because we didn’t show up. We have said that we couldn’t find the building and if they checked our dog’s profile they would have seen she needs to be seen 7 days after her last appointment as there is a large area of concern towards her spine which is VERY important. Disregarding her actual NEED of an appointment and it’s very busy during this time so it would be difficult to get an appointment when it’s a busy season. Very disappointed and shocked as it was our first time here and definitely the last. Which it also says that it should be cancelled from 10-15 minutes but it sounded like it got cancelled even just 3 minutes of being late.

AVOID AVOID AVOID Made appointment for my dog to have her booster. Original price £63 agreed and booked. Turn up today to be told injections have changed and price has gone up by £20 aswell as having to return on 4 weeks time. They are happy to remind you of your appointment but won't update you to tell you the price or injection changes. Rude staff. Have been using this vets for last 18 years and will not be going back. Do not recommend and service is appalling. Waste of time, fuel and money for a simple uodate.

I will be moving my dogs from there as I took my puppy to see the vet. I asked about aspiration pneumonia with my cleft lip puppy, was told this wasn’t the case and that the puppy was “thriving” and only crying for his mum. The puppy was given a dehydration shot in the neck, came back screaming and crying and despise my concerns, was given an anti nausea medication. The puppy sadly passed away 6 hours later and milk started coming out of his nose when he was taking his last breath - concluding an aspiration pneumonia. If only I advocated for him to give him antibiotics or took him to a different vet, things would have been different, but I shouldn’t have to do so. Really upset about this as I bonded with this little one and the loss has been really hard on me and my family. Never will come back here again just a waste of money, I’d rather pay £500 and I would of saved my puppies life, than pay what I paid here and experience my little one pass away with so much pain.

Have been bringing my dog to this vets for over 4 years now and never had a bad experience at the Luton clinic. Moved to them after a terrible customer service experience elsewhere. The Luton staff have always been supportive, kind, friendly, and understanding. Wouldn’t trust anywhere else to look after my little dog and very grateful for their service. Thank you to the Luton team!

The experience I’ve had with them aren’t useful. I’m convinced the vets in ickneild vets aren’t even trained or qualified and just doing their job for the money and have no interest in these animals. For two years one of my cats has been having some issues like dropping laying down when he would just stand for a few seconds and his breath smelt a bit and he was just acting off and why he always chokes on his food and always keeps his tongue out. And for two years I’ve been asking them what are the issues with him. I’ve got no answer from them until this year I took him to this vet again and a different lady has told me he’s got stomach issues which causes him to be feeling tired and the reason for his breath. And now they’ve waited two years to tell me that he’s got mouth problems and it’ll be 800£ for his dental treatment. These vets waited for inflation and prices to go higher just so customers can pay more. 800£ for dental treatment on a cat who has been suffering for a while is ridiculous. And they’ve also let him out with no treatment done and told me he’s just going to keep being uncomfortable until you pay to get his dental treatment done. Ickneild vets are not useful whatsoever. I ain’t happy.

I have been with Icknield for a long while. It seems to be operating as a business, just after the money, rather than providing care. Things have definitely gone downhill. My dog's lump was misdiagnosed on multiple occasions, which then turned out to be cancerous and she then needed to be operated on as an emergency. Few months on, she is wetting her bed and after multiple tests have shown nothing, they now feel the need to do an MRI. She is 11. Perhaps it is just old age. Who has £4000?? Not feeling confident in their approach.

I was told by this vet that the cost would be minimal, yet I was charged £230—half of which I had to pay from two different accounts. What’s worse is that they advised me to put my cat down on the spot simply because she wasn’t walking. Thankfully, my mother, who is recovering from a heart condition, was with me and broke down in tears upon hearing this. Despite their grim prognosis, the X-ray (which cost £150 alone) showed no serious issue. In fact, they provided no documentation, no diagnosis—nothing in writing to explain what was supposedly wrong with my cat. We found this very concerning. We were told she was at the end of her life and wouldn’t be able to go to the toilet. She has since proved all of that wrong. I now feel completely misled, emotionally manipulated, and scammed out of my hard-earned money. I will be reporting this to the Financial Ombudsman and exploring legal options to hold this business accountable. Cat killers
